TRANSFER BETWEEN TERMINALS A walkway with escalators
and travelators connects the two terminals. In early 2000,
a new International (Dishatlar) Terminal was built and the
old International Terminal became the Domestic (Içhatlar)
Terminal.
DRIVING DIRECTIONS From central Istanbul, drivers
should take the E-5 or O-1/O-2 motorways to the airport.
CAR PARKING There is a car park located at each
terminal; there is space for 7200 cars in covered and open-air
car parks at the International Terminal.
CAR HIRE Car hire companies include Avis, Budget,
Europcar, Hertz and Thrifty. The car hire counter is located
in the International Terminal (Arrivals) just after the baggage
reclaim area.
PUBLIC TRANSPORT Road: Taxi: Taxis or Dolmus (shared
taxis) are available from the airport. Bus: Havas airport
buses run to central Istanbul every 30 minutes at peak times,
and hourly at around 1200 and at night (journey time: approximately
30 minutes). Public bus no. 96 runs into town approximately
every hour 0700-1940.
INFORMATION AND HELP DESKS Information desks are
located in both terminals; there is also a tourist information
desk in Arrivals in the International Terminal. Staff at
the desks can provide information on facilities and services
available at the airport, and on hotels and tourist attractions
in Istanbul. They can also assist disabled passengers and
passengers travelling with young children.
AIRPORT FACILITIES Money and communications: There
are three banks, an ATM and three bureaux de change. Post
offices are located in both the International and the Domestic
terminals. Shopping: There is 24-hour shopping at the airport
and a duty-free shop in the International (Dishatlar) Terminal.
Eating and drinking: There are 24-hour restaurants, snack
bars, cafés and bars. Other facilities: First aid facilities
are available.
CONFERENCE AND BUSINESS FACILITIES There is a conference
centre with technical facilities for up to 200 delegates
in the International Terminal.
DISABLED FACILITIES The airport has lifts and wheelchair-accessible
toilets, and disabled passengers can move easily around the
Arrivals area. Disabled passengers requiring assistance with
boarding aircraft are advised to contact their airline in
advance. Wheelchairs are available at the airport, but passengers
should make advance arrangements with their airline.
Istanbul is Europe's gateway to the East. Istanbul Sabiha
Gokcen International Airport is located 20 km east of the
Asian centre of Istanbul and 45 km east of the European centre.
TERMINALS AND CHECK-IN There are two terminals at
the airport and they are located within walking distance
of one another.
AIRPORT FACILITIES As for refreshments and meals,
there are several restaurants and cafés in the departure
hall. The VIP lounge is located in departures A and the CIP
lounge is located in departures B. A post office is also
available in the terminal.
BUSINESS AND MEETING The CIP lounge, located in
departures B of the international terminal, is equipped with
a business centre. Telephones, fax machines and Internet
access are provided to passengers.
Duty-free shops are located in the international terminal's
departures hall. Gift shops, bookshops and a travel accessories
shop are available. There are also a variety of duty-free
shops in the arrivals hall in the international terminal.
ATMs are located in both terminals, with a bank in the departures
B of the international terminal.
DISABILITY ASISTANCE Facilities in the arrivals
hall are positioned on one level, permitting passengers with
mobility difficulties to move around with ease. Specially
adapted toilets are provided in both terminals and lifts
can be used to access the various eateries on the mezzanine
level of the international terminal. Those needing special
assistance with boarding should contact their airline in
advance.
There are two information counters located in the international
terminal: one in departures A and another in departures B.
There is an information desk in the domestic terminal as
well.

ISTANBUL SABIHA GOKCEN INTERNATIONAL AIRPORT TRANSPORTATION By
taxi Taxis are available 24 hours a day to destinations
in and around Istanbul. Costs can range up-to US$65 for
a trip into Istanbul's city centre.
By car Driving to the airport from Istanbul city
centre, follow the E-6 express highway or the E-5 highway.
Take the Pendik/Kurtky exit to reach the airport. The trip
should take about 30 to 45 minutes.
By rail The closest railway connection is located
6 km away. This connects with districts in Istanbul and neighbouring
towns and cities.
By bus A regular shuttle bus operates between the
terminals and the city centre, with journeys taking between
30 to 45 minutes. This service also links Sabiha Gokcen International
Airport and Ataturk International Airport in a journey taking
approximately one hour. The Seabus Port is located 8 km away.
This connects with the various districts of Istanbul, as
well as neighbouring towns and cities.
There is a 24-hour car park for both short- and long-term
parking in front of the airport. Short-term parking is also
provided next to the main terminal building.
